Hepatitis is a silent epidemic in Pakistan, with millions affected by Hepatitis B and C. At Medical Aid to Pakistan, we are committed to halting the spread of this devastating disease through awareness, prevention, and treatment initiatives.
Our Work in 2013
In 2013, our work prioritised the inoculation of babies born to hepatitis-positive mothers. This critical intervention can prevent the transmission of hepatitis from mother to child, giving these newborns a healthy start to life.
Our Comprehensive Approach
- Awareness Campaigns: Educating communities about the causes, prevention, and treatment of hepatitis to reduce stigma and encourage testing.
- Vaccinations: Providing free Hepatitis B vaccinations to at-risk populations, including newborns, healthcare workers, and families of hepatitis patients.
- Early Treatment: Funding life-saving treatments for those diagnosed with hepatitis, preventing the progression of the disease and reducing complications.
Why This Work Matters
Mother-to-Child Transmission: Without intervention, hepatitis-positive mothers can pass the virus to their babies during childbirth. Inoculation can prevent this transmission.
Community Impact: Raising awareness and providing vaccinations can significantly reduce the spread of hepatitis in communities.
Economic Burden: Hepatitis places a heavy financial burden on families and the healthcare system. Early treatment and prevention can alleviate this strain.
